PSP EMPLOYMENT VERIFICATION

 

To expedite your request for employment verification for current or former Pennsylvania State Police personnel, it is important to use the appropriate process by following the directions below.

NON-EMPLOYERS - For requestors that need employment/salary verification but are not seeking to employ current or former Pennsylvania State Police personnel:  The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has contracted with a national employment verification service to respond to these requests. The Work Number for Everyone® , a service of TALX Corporation, provides employment and salary information through a touch-tone phone immediately upon request.


PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYERS -  Requestors considering current or former Pennsylvania State Police personnel for employment:
Public Information:  If you are seeking to verify public information*, you may submit your request to the Department’s Personnel Records Coordinator via:

1. Email at RA-verifyemployment@pa.gov
2. Telephone: (717) 787-6941

*Public information includes only:
• Department name
• Last name and first name of Department personnel
• Organization name
• Job code
• Job name
• Headquarters address
• Headquarters telephone number
• Bargaining unit
• Biweekly salary
• Hourly rate
• Per diem rate
• Pay schedule
• Pay level
• Pay scale group
• Years of service (not dates of service)

 

Non-public Information:  If you are seeking any non-public information, you must:

 

1. Obtain a signed release from the individual for whom you are seeking verification.  If your organization does not have a release form, a generic form is available.

 

2. Provide an employment verification form for us to complete.  If your organization does not have an employment verification form, PSP will complete and return a generic employment verification form

 

3. Submit your request and the signed release to the Department’s Personnel Records Coordinator via:

 

a. Email:   RA-verifyemployment@pa.gov.   Please be sure to attach the signed release form.
b. Mail:

​NOTES:
• Commonwealth of PA policy prohibits the release of the entire personnel file.
• Commonwealth of PA policy prohibits the release of any medical information.


CADET APPLICANT VERIFICATION -Requestors seeking to verify the status of an applicant for Pennsylvania State Police Cadet
1. Obtain a signed release from the individual for whom you are seeking verification.
2. Specify the application information you are seeking.
3. Submit your request and the signed release via:
a. Email:  RA-PSPCadetProcess@pa.gov   Please be sure to attach the signed release form or
b. FAX: 717-533-8922



FEDERAL AGENCIES - Federal agencies conducting a background investigation in order to provide current Department personnel with access to secured federal systems.
1. Obtain a signed release from the individual for whom you are seeking verification.
2. Submit your request and the signed release to the Department’s Personnel Records Coordinator via:
a. Email:   RA-verifyemployment@pa.gov. (Preferred process). Please be sure to attach the signed release form.

NOTE:  There no longer are any paper records to review; all personnel records now are in digital (PDF) format.  If absolutely required, appointments to review the records can be made via the methods provided above or by calling (717) 787-6941.  However, we prefer to provide PDF records via mail or email.
