GROUND DEFENSE II
Course Description: This four-day course expands on techniques previously learned by the students in Ground Defense I. Emphasis will be on techniques to control combative subjects while on the ground and defend against life threatening assaults through the use of close striking techniques, joint locks, and vascular restraint techniques. A review of Department policies on justification and use of force issues in confrontational situations will be conducted.
Pre-requisite: Ground Defense I. A copy of the certificate must be submitted along with the application.
Additional Information: Student Equipment: Athletic clothing, soft body armor, and an issued duty belt and associated equipment. A mouth guard is required for this course.
DUE TO THE PHYSICAL NATURE OF THIS TRAINING, STUDENTS SHOULD EVALUATE THEIR OWN FITNESS LEVEL PRIOR TO ENROLLING IN THIS COURSE.
