PSP Cadet Testing Announcements

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Cadet.  Information regarding a specific selection cycle can be found below.  Applicants are required to submit a new application for each selection cycle.   Please be advised that Cadet selection procedures and timeframes are subject to change at any time based upon the needs of the Department. 

Since applicants receive communications and updates by email, it is important that contact information is kept up to date.  To update contact information please contact the Public Safety Human Resource Delivery Center (PSHRDC), Specialized PSP Placement Section with updated information at ra-pypsdcentryleve@pa.gov.

Selection Cycle 6018 

Applications submitted February 1, 2023 – July 31, 2023

The PSP will begin accepting applications for the 6018 Cadet selection cycle on February 1, 2023. Individuals wishing to participate in this selection cycle should complete an application at www.employment.pa.gov. The written examination will open February 8, 2023. When you apply, please carefully review your name and address listed on your application to ensure it is identical to the form of identification you will present at the testing facility. Unfortunately, if any information is not an exact match, you will be denied admittance and required to reschedule. Selection Cycle 6017 

Applications submitted April 15, 2022 – December 31, 2022

Written testing for the 6017 selection cycle closed January 13, 2023 and we will share the results of the exam mid-February 2023. The Oral examination is tentatively scheduled to begin March 17, 2023 and will be held in DuBois, Harrisburg, King of Prussia, Pittsburgh, and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Appointments from this list will be made as early as November 2023. 

Selection Cycle 6016 

Applications submitted August 1, 2021 – March 18, 2022

Pennsylvania State Police Cadet Oral Examinations were administered in May 2022, with final results being emailed to candidates in early June 2022. Applicants ranked in the top 300 were referred to a polygraph examiner in late July 2022, for further processing. Applicants ranked 301 to 500 were referred to a polygraph examiner mid-September 2022, for further processing. Applicants ranked 501 to 936 were referred to a polygraph examiner late November 2022, for further processing.
