PSP Employment Verification

To expedite your request for employment verification for current or former Pennsylvania State Police personnel, it is important to use the appropriate process by following the directions below. 

Non-Employers

For requestors that need employment/salary verification but are not seeking to employ current or former Pennsylvania State Police personnel: The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has contracted with a national employment verification service to respond to these requests. The Work Number for Everyone®, a service of TALX Corporation, provides employment and salary information through a touch-tone phone immediately upon request. 

Prospective Employers

Requestors considering current or former Pennsylvania State Police personnel for employment: Public Information: If you are seeking to verify public information, you may submit your request to the Department’s Personnel Records Coordinator via email at RA-sphrverifyemp@pa.gov or via telephone at 717-409-3496. 

Public information includes only: 

  • Department name 
  • Last name and first name of Department personnel 
  • Organization name 
  • Job code 
  • Job name 
  • Headquarters address
  • Headquarters telephone number 
  • Bargaining unit 
  • Biweekly salary 
  • Hourly rate 
  • Per diem rate 
  • Pay schedule 
  • Pay level 
  • Pay scale group 
  • Years of service (not dates of service) 

If you are seeking any non-public information, you must: 

  1. Obtain a signed release from the individual for whom you are seeking verification. 
  2. Provide an employment verification form for us to complete. 
  3. Submit your request and the signed release to the Department’s Personnel Records Coordinator via:

Note that Commonwealth policy prohibits the release of the entire personnel file or any medical information. 

Cadet Applicant Verification

Requestors seeking to verify the status of an applicant for Pennsylvania State Police Cadet must:

  1. Obtain a signed release from the individual for whom you are seeking verification. 
  2. Specify the application information you are seeking. 
  3. Submit your request and the signed release via: 

Federal Agencies

Federal agencies conducting a background investigation in order to provide current Department personnel with access to secured federal systems must:

  1. Obtain a signed release from for whom you are seeking verification. 
  2. Submit your request and the signed release to the Department’s Personnel Records Coordinator via:
