Domestic Violence and Our Response for PCOS

Course Description: This course is to give the PCO a better understanding of the dynamics of Domestic Violence and the dangers to victims as well as responding officers. Provides the PCO what to listen for and the imperative questions to ask and how to best handle domestic violence calls.

Instructional Hours:  1 Day/6 Hours

Instructional Objectives:  After completion, the student will be able to:

  • Gain a better understanding of what domestic violence is.
  • Understanding the cycle of violence.
  • How to properly handle a domestic violence call.

Course Completion Requirements:  Attendance and successful completion of a 10-question knowledge check.

Audience:  PSP PCO, PCO (class can be altered and conducted at requesting municipality/911 Center or Academy by request).
