INTOXILYZER 9000

Course Description:  This course meets the requirements of the Departments of Health and Transportation for certification as a Class A Testing Operator for the I-9000 model.

This course is limited to 20 students.

Instructional Hours:  4 Days/30 Hours

Instructional Objectives:  Throughout the 4 days of training, the following topics will be covered to meet the requirements of the Department of Health and Transportation (Title 69, Chapter 77, Section 77.23):

  • Students will know the pharmacology of alcohol.
  • Students will know the physiological effects of alcohol.
  • Students will interpret chemical findings.
  • Students will demonstrate the appropriate equipment.
  • Students will utilize Type A alcohol breath test equipment on drinking subjects or on equipment designed to simulate drinking subjects.
  • Students will review testing requirements specified.
  • Students will review recordkeeping requirements specified.
  • Students will prepare courtroom testimony.
  • Students will demonstrate courtroom testimony.
  • Students will review report writing.

Course Completion Requirements:  Attendance and successful completion of a knowledge check.

Audience:  PSP Enlisted, MP, LEO 

Prerequisites:  Department must utilize the Intoxilyzer 9000 (Type A) Breath Test Equipment.
