Open Source Intelligence and Investigations
Course Description: This course is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. This one-day training will introduce officers on how to utilize information available via the internet to aid in their investigations. The course will cover a basic overview of the internet, how to find your IP address, tips on navigating Google, dissecting Facebook pages, investigative techniques, and some "must have" tools for the investigative toolbox to further and aid in investigations. The instructor has experience in researching for over 15 years, and specific experience with open source intelligence and investigations for the last four years.
Instructional Hours: 1 Day/7 Hours
Instructional Objectives: After completion, the student will be able to:
Understand basic overview of the internet.,
Use tips to help navigate through Google searches.
Download videos and utilize tools to make still images of the videos.
Dissect and compare public Facebook pages.
Utilize various tools across the internet for investigations.
Course Completion Requirements: Attendance and successful completion of a knowledge check.
