Technical Aspects of the Opioid Epidemic: Dark Web and Virtual Currency Overview

Course DescriptionThe United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS/HSI) and the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are presenting two sessions of a one-day training designed to provide investigators with foundational knowledge of what “Dark Web” and “Virtual Currency” are, and how to identify indicators of such activity during search warrant service and encounters with individuals utilizing such technology.  Attendees will also identify resources available when conducting investigations which may encompass such activity. This course should be considered a “beginners guide,” and will not empower attendees with the ability to conduct in-depth investigations involving Dark Web activities.

Instructional Hours:   1 Day/8 Hours

Course Completion Requirements:  Attendance and successful completion of a knowledge check.

Audience:  PSP Enlisted and PACIC personnel, MP (Note: Only active law enforcement personnel are authorized to attend this seminar.)
