State Police Cadet:
Prior to becoming a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper, all recruits enter the PSP Academy under the rank of Cadet. A State Police Cadet is a person who has been appointed to complete the basic training necessary to become a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper. Both

Liquor Enforcement Officer Employment Information
Liquor Enforcement Officers: Learn about the salary, benefits, and career as a Liquor Enforcement Officer. Liquor Enforcement Officers are responsible for conducting investigations performed through undercover operations and open inspections of licensed or unlicensed liquor establishments. They have the power and duty to arrest for violations of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code and specific Crimes Code-related offenses.
Liquor Enforcement Officer Trainee: Prior to becoming a Liquor Enforcement Officer, all trainees enter a 13-15 week training period. The training is purposely designed to eliminate any applicant who does not possess the necessary intelligence, emotional stability, or physical stamina to meet the requirements. Both Liquor Enforcement Officer Trainees and Liquor Enforcement Officers must meet the Department's Eligibility Requirements and pass the Selection Procedures.

Civilian Employment - Gaining civilian employment with the Pennsylvania State Police and thus, the Commonwealth, is different from gaining employment with a private organization/company. Job titles are designated as being either Non-Civil Service or Civil Service. This designation determines the applicable placement procedures for a given classification.
NEW! Digital Forensic Examiner 1 - The Pennsylvania State Police has two permanent/full-time openings for a DIGITAL FORENSIC EXAMINER 1. Duties include conducting examinations of digital equipment and media allegedly used to commit a suspected crime; preserving original evidence and producing an image for analysis purposes; troubleshooting, repairing, assembling and disassembling digital devices to access needed evidence; assisting in court preparation of evidence and media used during prosecution; testifying on digital evidence, the procedures used to obtain the evidence and the findings of digital forensic examinations. Occasional paid travel is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree in digital forensics or any information technology field which includes 3 credits in computer networking and 3 credits in information technology security or network security; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Police Communications Operators - Work involves receiving, transmitting, maintaining, and coordinating public safety information in support of Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) law enforcement functions. These positions are staffed twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week, including weekends and holidays. The annual salary is $38,765.00 before deductions as of October 1, 2016.
Forensic Laboratory Career Opportunities - The Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Forensic Services provides unique career opportunities for the analysis of criminal evidence. Positions include: Civilian Forensic Scientist, and Enlisted Forensic Examiners.
